Old Rao Hotel – An Oasis of Food on Delhi-Jaipur Highway

I have been going to Bhiwadi almost twice a year since 2006 and never have I stopped in between to have a decent meal. And in case Hunger stroked, I bought a pack of ASCO Lays Chips and a Mountain Dew & relished them while driving back home.

However, almost a year back I heard that Rao Hotel is quite popular here in Dharuhera so on my way back I stopped there, only to be disappointed.

However, I got my smile back in a few minutes when I saw that I have been going to the WRONG Rao Dhaba. And the real one is called OLD RAO HOTEL and is difficult to miss because it’s Huge and one can always find more than 50 cars parked there.

So, last week when I had plans to visit Bhiwadi, I mentally made up my mind to eat at Old Rao Hotel, and so I did.

Seeing the parking full made me want to eat there even more… And as I passed from the front of their Kitchen I saw almost 15 people working in kitchen and another 8 just at the Tandoor. Gave me an indication that food is no doubt good, but the service would be great too. And so it was.

Dishes being readied to be served to 250+ Guests in the hall.

By the way when I crossed the kitchen, my eyes got caught by 2 plates of Rice which were ready to be taken by server and served to the guests.

Color of Rice in both the plates were different but and I enquired about it from the cook and he mentioned that one is Fried Rice and other Orange color Rice was Veg. Biryani. Though I had come over only to eat Dal Roti, but I mentally made up my mind to order Veg Biryani too even if that would mean getting the balance food packed.

So, we entered the hall and it was H…….U……..G…….E!!!

It was a huge place with tons of tables all around and people relishing their food. My rough head count told me that there were 250-300 people here.

THE H....A......L.....L
THE H….A……L…..L

We couldn’t wait and took our seat and Ordered for  Dal Makhni, Roti’s (I had a friend along) and Veg Biryani.

The server turned back swiftly and with almost the same speed he came back with a plate full of Sliced Onions & Sliced Kheera.

Even before we were able to complete our First kheera, The Food was on our table.

Ok, So Old Rao Hotel Broadly mentioned that they ONLY use Amul Butter and have to say they use it wholesale quantity.

The Dal Makhni had huge traces of Floating makhann.

The Roti’s were BIG and for once I did think ki chaar ki jagah do hi mangwate.

I poured some Dal in my kattori and with my spoon tasted it. Guess what happened??

Arre Yaar Dal bahut garam thi aur mera mooh jal gaya.

Do Glass Paani peeya and poured the dal in plate so that it spreads and then cools down faster.

While Dal cooled down I bought the Biryani plate closer to me and its Aroma made me Smile and the Dry fruit on top made my eyes twinkle and the first Bite I took made my Taste buds dance.

The Biryani was super awesome…. Lovely Colour, Long grains of Rice, Lots of Peas, Lots of Paneer Cubes, Dryfruits like Kishmish and Cashew nuts in abundance.
After having 6 Spoons of rice, my mind told me to stop. It said, you can get the Rice packed but not the Roti and Dal.

So, I again took my spoon and tried the dal. It was awesome. Wonderful texture, Creamy for sure, Good mix of Dal and Rajma, Very tasty.

The Roti’s too were soft and seems they get some special atta as I have never had so soft and tasty tandoori roti’s. Probably they add some milk to the atta.

In Totality, It was a great meal, loved every bit of it. Very Reasonably priced.

Total amount we paid was Rs 360/-

Oh yes, it’s 24 Hours Open

Shall go back specially over there to relish a meal with more friends, so that we can order and taste more of it.

Time for me to go my Fridge and heat my Subah ki bachi hui biryani and relish it 🙂

Here are the contact details lest you go to wrong place like me 🙂
