Kashmir ka Pyaar – Chinar!

Everyone who has heard of Kashmir must have heard of the Chinar Trees that grow there. Though in Kashmiri language it is called Boonyi. And for the more global people Chinar is also called Plantaus Orientalis in English.

Due to the shape of its Leaf, I thought that Maple Leaf (National Symbol of Canada) and Chinar Leaf are same. However, only on my recent visit to Kashmir I realized that they are different.

By the way, An Average Chinar Tree grows for 30 m (98 ft) and spreads like a crown.

Anyways, my reason for sharing this post was because Chinar is so deeply ingrained in Kashmir that you see it everywhere not only in the form of Actual trees but also in posters, carpets, Wall Paintings etc.
