Head Over Heels with ASICS!

For the last 10 years, I have been in love with my footwear which are ankle-length high-heel boots. Na na, not to look taller but somehow I believe that heels gives you confidence while you walk. Also, I feel good in shoes with heels and like the hop that they add in my steps.

My sports shoe journey started with my white fleets which we had to wear in Bishop Cotton School. It was the only choice… do hi aate the, ya to Power ke ya fir Northstar.

But, us time unka istemaal utna hi hota tha, bas khelte hue. There was nothing COOL about those shoes.

Hep to hote the GOLA ke shoes. Yaad hai apko bhi wo design wale, mostly white base and upar bahut saare rang ke sath wale.

Usme bhi I remember my favourite were the Diamond shoes. I remember picking a brown coloured pair only because it had secret pockets.

I was in class 5 and a little closer to the main dorm area. In desi bhasha, aap thoda bully ho sakte the, poora nahi. And my special shoe pocket helped me safely save my Re1 to buy a samosa from the Tuck Shop.

Jab koi senior pockets check karta kuch na milta, par jab Samosa khaate hue dekh leta to, I would blame it on my friend, Raghuveer. Aur ek aur baat batau apko, mera iss naam se koi friend tha hi nahi and na hi school mein aisa koi bachcha tha 😛

Thoda bade hue to I got a pair of Colt ke shoes which were very stylish, bhadakte hue rang wale. Shayad Karol Bagh se liye the. I remember they had white laces when I brought them, but I changed them to orange colour.

Thoda bada hua tab kuch aur drame kiye. I bought a Nike, a used Nike from Chor Bazaar, shayad Rs600 ke. Always been a VFM guy, sometimes took right decisions, sometime not.

Ek baari went to Bombay and stayed at a friend’s place. He loved sneakers and had lots of them, acche wale and mehenge wale.

Wahan mera shoe toot gaya and he gave me one of his own to last the trip and then was kind enough to allow me to wear them back home.

So all in all, never been a sneaker guy, until an elder friend whom I regard a lot met me at Indian Habitat Centre and asked me to buy good sneakers as it will make me walk more, reduce the burden of my body weight on my ankle.

While I was wondering which one to buy (now you would know I’m a total novice in this one), a major coincidence happened and I met Neha jee at Hotel Lalit. She mentioned that she is part of ASICS and wants us to try ASICS.

Neki aur pooch pooch 🙂

Few days later, I went to ASICS ka Ambience Mall, Gurgaon wala store. Wahan they made me run on a treadmill and checked my feet size and banawat and also how I run. All this was captured on a camera and then analysed on a software. It was only then that they recommended a shoe type which was best suited for me. (Read my post here).

See the smile on my after buying my ASICS!

Aaj do saal ho gaye and I have never felt the need to change them.

These shows have travelled with me to:

Mahabalipuram

Kasauli

Dubai

Bangalore

Hyderabad

Bombay

Pune

Varanasi

Jim Corbett

Singapore

Kuala Lumpur and many more places.

In fact, a day before when my son was to leave for his US trip he told me that his shoes are not comfortable. And in a jiffy I told him to wear mine instead.

He took that advice seriously and immediately slipped into them. It fitted him very well.

Baap ke joote, bete ke per mein aa gaya 🙂

He took them to US and now I can proudly say ki mere Joote San Francisco, Los Angeles bhi ghoom ke aa chuke hain.

I can now safely say that a good shoe helps in sound mind and sound body and ASICS just proves and stamps it.

My other footwear fetish has been with Kolhapuri Chappals, Juttis, Peshawari Sandals too at one time. But they never last long for me.

At present my footwear collection has a pair of Red Rubber Slippers, Black Leather Ankle High Length Boots, ASICS Sneakers and Peshawari Chappals.

Arey haan, I have one White Colour Jeetendra-style shoes bhi and now waiting to buy some good laal rang ke joote (as that happens to be my favourite colour also!).
