Some time back a friend asked me, “If given a chance what would your last meal be in this Life” And I immediately said BIRYANI.
Will borrow some words from Pankaj Udhas Sahab’s Gazal and say that
“Biryani cheez hi aisi hai, Na chorri jaaye,
Mere yaar ke jaisi hai, na chorri jaaye”
In the past few years many entrepreneurs and restaurateurs have realised this and have either given Biryani a special place in their menu or some of them have actually gone out and started Biryani Specific Food Startups.
One such Food Startup is “Biryani by Kilo” and being a Biryani fan I was keen to see what’s in store. And let me tell you, I was glad to check it out and shall be doing it often.
So, ordered for a “Chicken Party Blast” that is suitable for 2-3 persons. It included half a kilo of Hyderabadi/ Lucknowi Biryani, 250 Grams of Chicken Seekh kebab or Mutton Galauti kebab with a Ulta Tawe ka Parantha and Half a kg of Phirni. Total Cost Rs 899 +Taxes
Thanks to their amazing Technology, I was intimated in advance on when I should expect my food and with the details of the rider.
Never knew that I would smile wide even before I could smell the aroma of Biryani because the Biryani was well packed in a Matka and so was the Phirni. Also there was an extra earthen bowl with it. For a minute I was confused what purpose does the additional bowl serve.
But then my son Hargun opened the flap from the bowl and we saw 3 tea lights. This bowl was supposed to be used as a base so that you can heat your biryani for 6-8 minutes with those tea lights and have Hot Biryani.
Also, loved the additional feature that the Biryani Matki is Microwaveable. I could see my Wife smiling after she heard of this. Makes work a lot easier, isn’t it?
Anyways, Bhook lag gayi likhte likthe, lets come on the food part.
I opened the dhakkan that was stuck with Atta, as it is usually done before giving it Dum.
And as soon as the dhakkan came out, the Awadhi Fragrance invaded every corner of the room.
We couldn’t wait to dig in and what we had was a Perfect Awadhi Biryani with the right flavours. In no time we found the matki empty and abhi craving ur bhi thi. And tab we realised that the Mutton Galauti we had ordered ki taraf to kisi ka dhyaan hi nahi gaya.
Jo hota hai acche ke liye hota hai. One bite of the Galauti Kebabs and my moans could be heard in the next room. They were SUPERRR. Sach kahu… They were the best and Home Delivery mein bhi if they can serve this kind of amazing Flavourful Kebab to I’m wondering wahaan jaakar fresh khayenge to kitne acche honge. The Chutney was perfect and the onions crisp, just as I like them.
Arre haan btana bhool gya… The kebabs had been packed in layers and layers separated by a Banana leaf. I love Brands that go in the details to make customer experience great and Biryani by Kilo is one of them.
One more instance is ki unki Phirni had a Yellow Cellophane paper instead of any other and gave a good KESARI feel 🙂 And haanjee, even the Matki’s had the brand on them.
Abhi khana thora sa niche gaya hi tha ki kids got the Phirni wali Matki….. And believe me every grain was polished off from the matki and that explains how tasty it was.
Next time I’m going to order Calcutta Biryani and then Hyderabadi and also their Korma…… Yaar.. let me stop writing this…… already drooling to the hilt… Bye Bye jee
