Everything happens for a reason. And sometimes you only get to know it after many, many years. But sometimes it happens in hours too!
Something similar to this happened with me last week.
I was supposed to go to Hotel Leela Palace for the launch of a US electrical appliances brand, Hamilton Beach.
And a few minutes before I was supposed to leave, Gurbani came up to me and asked if I could make Mango Shake for her. Ab yeh to asaan kaam hai na jee, and bitiya ke liye to sab kuch haazir.
So kitchen gaya, mango se pulp nikala, mixie mein daala, dhoodh milaya cheeni milayi, dhakkan band kiya and mixi chala di.
As per habit, I kept holding the mixie ka jar ki kahi vibrate hokar gir na jaaye, kahi dhakkan na khul jaaye.
Anyways, Mango Shake Gurbani ko diya and I headed towards Hotel Leela for the launch.

From the recent additions of the hotelscape in Delhi, Leela Palace is one of the most elegant ones. I have been there mostly for events as yet and have never stayed there or had an opportunity to dine, though went to Jamawar, their Indian restaurant in 2014 as they were one of the winners of “Dal Makhni Blind Tasting Competition” conducted by Rocky Mohan Sir under Delhi Gourmet Club.
The venue for the launch was at Li Cirque which is perched on the 10th Floor of the hotel and is one of the best places in Delhi to have dinner (yes, they open only for dinner).
There were many reasons for me to be here, the very professional and soft invite from the PR was the first and foremost. They requested the presence and not demanded any deliverables, unlike many other invites. Hotel Leela surely is a beautiful property located in the heart of the city.
The celebrated chef Kunal Kapur was there as the Brand Ambassador and also to give us a demo of the product. Honestly, I hadn’t heard much about the brand name but then one quick look at Google and it told me they have been around for a good 11 years and that they have gone through many transformations and ruling both the professional as well as home kitchens for as many years.
The event was supposed to kick-start at noon and I mistakenly had planned a meeting at my office for the same time with someone. But, thanks to my luck that day, the person I was supposed to meet happily agreed to meet me at Leela only. Though I kept my tab on the watch, par kab 12.15pm ho gaye pata hi nahi chala. And I knew ki agar invite is for 12, then it won’t start any time before 12.30pm.
How perfect I was, but then I took the elevator and reached Li Cirque and was greeted in the foyer by the ever-smiling Serina jee and the super elegant and super charming Gita jee (Founder of “Gita PR” a New York-based PR agency). I was meeting them both for the very first time but never felt so. And then came the Brainy & Brawny Brian Schwartz, Director, International Business Development for Hamilton Beach.
I hurriedly entered the main hall. It was fully packed and the event was just about to begin. Brian talked about how they have spent 5 Years in researching Indian kitchens and to create a customised machine for India. He showed us how they have also ensured that they are better than any other product available in the Indian market.
And then Chef Kunal Kapur, walked in amidst claps and told us how he was part of the whole R&D process and how he has been testing this product before it was finally decided to release it for public.
He told us how some of the spices which we use in Indian households are really hard and would have normally broken the blade of any other mixie, but that is not the case with Hamilton Beach. He demonstrated the same by grinding turmeric in that mixie and whoa! I never knew that it is so hard and that it’s almost impossible to break it with your hands.
After ruling kitchens and hearts internationally, Hamilton Beach products will be now available on Amazon from 15th July.
Apart from the grinding, chopping, mixing part, they have also taken care of the safety and even an 8-year-old child can use it comfortably without worrying about any risks. They have systems wherein any wrong handling of the mixie, intentional or otherwise, makes the machine stop in a second and avoid any injuries to anyone.
Chef Kunal also demonstrated that how you don’t have to keep holding the lid of the jar with your hands in fear that it may come out or so as to avoid a splash being made. I could, in my mind, connect it with my morning experience while making mango shake for Gurbani.

The best part that I liked about the product is that it has automatic modes. Additionally, it does not heat up with prolonged usage and comes with a 5-year warranty. Baaki aap iss link mein check kar lena jee.
All in all, a great event unveiling a great product which is priced decently at Rs.25,000.
I posted an Instagram story on attending the event and was amazed to see that so many of my friends in India and abroad have been using Hamilton Beach for very long and are absolute loyalists. Sun kar accha laga 🙂
