Green Tea Experiments – A story on learning to like Green Tea

I was never a tea person, let alone be a green tea fan. But it required some courage to take this big step. Since my best friend was a strong advocate of green tea in all its forms, I thought of giving it a try.

I began with the simplest and most common flavour, like everyone else, “honey lemon” and just to be safe I added a spoon of honey too. Well it did taste funny but eventually I started liking it. I’ve always had a sweet tooth so liking green tea was quite unexpected for me as well as my family. A strong driving factor behind the green tea push was also all the health benefits I had read, coupled with healthy-living peer pressure.

The liking grew so fast that instead of having one cup a day, I was having three cups and stopped adding honey to it. Starting to like green tea can be a big task for some so here I am, listing a few benefits, hoping to bribe you into drinking it!

Green tea is naturally rich in antioxidants (antioxidants boost immune system), it helps in reducing stress (a cup while solving statistics worked well for me) and it helps in shedding extra kilos.

Now that I was all comfortable having it in one flavour, I had to try the new and unknown ones too. You must already know that Green Tea is now available in the market in an unimaginable wide range of flavours. Here are the ones I tried and liked!

  1. Lipton- honey lemon
  2. Organic India- tulsi green tea, lemon ginger.
  3. Wingreens farms- lemongrass with green tea
  4. Typhoo – chamomile green tea
  5. Organic India- sweet lemon green tea

Hibiscus, orange spiser, Jasmin are some of the other flavours I like.

Matcha is another type of green tea. It is a high-grade, finely ground, concentrated green tea. It’s been traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies for hundreds of years and has recently gained fame for its high antioxidant content. When you drink matcha tea, you drink the actual tea leaves, which have been ground.

Unfortunately, I have still not been able to develop taste for it. I’ve tried it in many forms, be it desert or in tea. However, what’s life without experimenting?! The more experiments you make the better. Try something new with your regular cuppa next time and let us know what happens!
