New way to Drink Water

If you can Drink Cola in a can, Then can you drink Water in a can. Probably this was the thought my friend & a respected name in Indian Hospitality space Ankur Chawla had in mind that made them launch this new Brand called Whatr packed in infinitely recyclable aluminium Cans. Rather the cans themselves are made up of 70% Recycled Aluminium. The water is sourced from Natural Spring in Himachal Pradesh and somehow I find it a SEXY fit into Events, Parties and personal consumption too. For personal use, the only issue is that once you open the can You have to finish it entirely as cans do not have a system to relock them unlike bottles.With a neat design these cans are available in 500 ml Size and available at their website.

Brand Affairs

When times are good it’s beneficial to Join hands with Like Minded people. However When times are bad it becomes necessary to collaborate with Brands/People 

and create magic together. One such Strategic collaboration I witnessed in the last few days was coming together of ITC’s Sunfeast Dark Fantasy with Milk Shake brand Frozen Bottle. The range is called Dark Fantasy Creations with Shakes & Sundaes called Melt in your Arms, Cin City, Karamel Kiss. The tag line says #UnbottleYourFantasy. We may see many more such Brand Tie-ups in the future. Available on Zomato & Swiggy

Class of 2020

Covid19 has hit many of us hard. However, More so for Students who were in their final year and were looking towards Employment. Many of them were either already given Appointment letters or were waiting to pick amongst various options. More so hit are Hospitality Students who were waiting to join Allotted Hotels from 1st April.

One such person I know is 20-year-old Chef Angad Singh Rana, Met him at a “US Cranberries” event last year. He represented India as the Indian Culinary Representative at WorldSkills Kazan, Russia 2019, and Global Skills competition in Melbourne, Australia in Cooking. In Spite of being awarded as the “India Skills Gold Medallist”’ “Best Young Chef in India” & “25th Best young Chef in the world” his job offer was revoked as Hotels had to close down and His other offers too asked to wait, All from Top Hotel Chains.

To keep himself busy he experimented with various dishes and then with the love Received on Social media, he was encouraged enough to Start a Delivery only kitchen from his home in Delhi. His brand called “Gourmand by Chef Angad Singh Rana” is a combination of some North Indian Delicacies & some selective items from Bakery & Desserts.

I see many such Hospitality Students finding ways to Pursue their passion & also Earn along in such times.

Do it Yourself!

In March when CoViD locked up everything, me and Gurleen listed down various Businesses that would slow down and various New Avenues that shall open. One such category that looked promising was Do It Yourself (DIY) Food Kits.

And now good to see many brands have come up with their DIY Food kits where you can cook & relish the best dishes of a restaurant with 10 mins of your time. Most of the Dishes come semi cooked along with required condiments etc like Oil, Spices, Sides  and an easy to read & understand Recipe Sheet.

Many reputed brands like Plum By Bent Chair, Kampai, Smoke House Deli, Enoki,World in a Box have initiated it and I have been hearing great  feedback. This week shall try a few and share my feedback. DIY is here to stay in Cooking, Baking, Cocktail Mixing etc 🙂

Collaboration over Competition

Theos has been around for many years and first won the hearts of NOIDA Walas & then Dilli walaas.

Be it their Cakes, Bakes or Savouries, We all have relished them. Today they take a step forward with their new Initiative called Global Culinaria Retail.Global Retail Culinaria is kind of a bridge between F&B Entrepreneurs, Home Chef’s, Home Bakers with Suppliers/Manufacturers for their Cooking & Baking Raw Materials/Machines needs. Kind of a one stop shop. Seems to be an Interesting Development and should solve many problems of existing and Upcoming businesses.

Its time for “Collaboration over Competition” very rightly said by Gaurav Wadhwa Bhai, MD at Theos

RISE FOR BAR

This week National Restaurant Association of India along with with Liquor companies, Pernod Ricard & Beam Suntory transferred Rs. 5000 to Bank accounts of 3300 Bar Employees of NRAI member Restaurants. Individually amount may be Small amount but a Big Initiative and in times like these, any amount is a Big Amount and makes one smile.
