Essential 6 C’s For Influencers

Six years ago, I wrote that to survive and thrive in this blogging game, one has to ensure the following three C’sContent, Consistency, and Credibility.

Let me explain them briefly and add three more C’s.

1.CONTENT

Content is the king and will remain the king. Because of changing mindsets, today’s best blogger may not be the best tomorrow. We all have seen it in action in the past few years: the previous Best is now seldomly seen, and someone who did not exist in the game two or three years back rules the roost. Then some have kept evolving and have been stepping their game up consistently for many years now.

2.CONSISTENCY

The ‘On & Off’ system does not work. One has to be at it, producing content regularly. If there is any Arena where “out of Sight, out of Mind” is true, it is in this field.

3.CREDIBILITY

Maintain Credibility both with your Audience and towards the Brands. Favouring Brands and compromising the Audience’s interests does not work, and pulling the brands down to create negativity and sensation to attract engagement does not work either.

I have added three more points this year from what I have learned in the past six years.

4.CASH

It is said, “Khali pait Bhajan na Hoye Gopala” means that you can only work if your tummy is full, and the motivation comes mainly if your tummy is full because of that very activity. Blogging is treated as a Thankless Job, though it should not be. Easy Entry, Easy Setup, Close to No Capital, Huge Need. These are just a few of the factors that invite new entrants every day & make it more challenging for the profession as a whole because those who are in it for the short term or those who are new will be happy just to enjoy the Glamour associated with the trade. And that makes it difficult for serious players. So find a way for the cash to keep flowing in; otherwise, the interest shall slowly fizzle out, and you shall find yourself in a pool of regrets.

There are many direct & indirect ways to earn in the trade. When I say indirect, I mean making Blogging a catalyst to get inroads and then offering other services (Graphics, Video, Social media, Events, Influencer Outreach, etc) that you are good at.

5.CHANGE

CHANGE is the only thing that is Permanent.”

You may or may not want it, but things keep changing. The Platforms would change, Market Dynamics would change, your Demographics would change, and your needs would change, and if you don’t, then the only change you would see in your profile shall be a downward one. So Keep Evolving par utna nahi ki aap apne aap ko hi badal de.

6.CHINTA CHITA KE SAMAAN HAI

Allow me to make this C in Hindi. The best and worst thing about Blogging is that all you do is in the Public Domain, making it easier for everyone to watch and comment on your work. Your Success may or may not be celebrated by them, but any mistake of yours shall be talked about repeatedly and would make you FEEL BAD about yourself.

We often worry about ki Woh kya sochega, Woh kya bolegi. As the saying goes “Log mere baare mein kya sochte hai, yeh bhi mai sochunga to phir log kya sochenge.”

So let me tell you log utna nahi sochte jitna aap soch rahe ho & jitna bhi log sochte hai usse aapko farak nahi parrna chahiye. I have seen people who kept doing their work jab log bol rahe the. Log toh aaj bhi bol rahe hai par woh itna aage chale gaye ki aaj unko yeh shor sunayi hi nahi deta.

While I say all this, I mean do all you want but Ethically. Khud ke morals ki baat toh alag hai, but Social Media has a long tail. Everything gets registered Forever!
