What better way of welcoming a new international face to India than with a bite of Delhi.
East or West Tandoori Chicken is the BEST.
And this is not only my word, it’s also the words of Mr. Nikolaus Koch, First Secretary at the German Embassy, Political Section. Welcome back to Delhi, I should actually say – Nikolaus lived here around 20 years ago. We met last week, and he told me about his Memories of India and how he loved the Tandoor Food here.
Now, when two food lovers meet, we don’t only talk; we eat too.
So we went to @ikkpanjab in Connaught Place to try their Tandoori Dishes.
Now, if it’s TIKKU, it has to be BIG. “Jo karo vadda Karo” is my Motto.
We ordered not 1 but 5 dishes.
Roasted Kukkad Charga – A Dish You Usually Don’t Find in Delhi, or Even in Punjab. Lahore ki mash-hoor dish hai yeh, and we relished it fully
Atta Chicken – This iconic DIsh is from Kotkapura, where the chicken is marinated, then wrapped in muslin cloth, and finally covered with kneaded dough. It is then left in the oven to cook. I have tried the Kotkapura version too, and Ikk Panjab is my go-to Place for Atta Chicken in Delhi.
Nikolaus Bhai loved it too.
Sarson Macchi Tikka – Soft, Juicy, Flavourful Juicy Fish was the star of the evening. I tried to use my Fork, but Nikolaus Bhai snapped at my hand and told me to get back to my roots and eat it with our Bare hands, feeling the textures and letting the juices flow on our fingers, which we wiped up clean later.
Dohra Kabab – This kabab features double meat. Inside is Chicken and then a layer of mutton—a Perfect Seekh Kabab with a Daanedaar texture and Authentic Flavours.
Chicken Sajji – Isne Dil le liya Bhai, I could still taste the Chicken Sajji ka swaad when I went to sleep at night. The flavours kept playing a melody on my taste buds for a long time.
I could see from Nikolaus Bhai’s smile that he loved every bit, and it would not be wrong to say that the Entire meal, which ended with the Dessert, Jalebi Rabri, made us very Happy.
