Ek zamana tha ki I loved Staying in Malls, Observing people there, Seeing what kind of shops are filled and which are not, The Visual merchandising of shops made me think a lot. VM is a mixture of Art and Science. Science because eventually, you have to also make the customer get tempted and walk in and buy “comfortably”
Few of my Observations written 3 years back in The Detail of Retail All the points are more relevant today.
Do baar to I went to a mall for a Job as Marketing Manager. And at one time, I was offered to be part of the Leasing team instead.
That Mall was Pacific Mall in Tagore Garden, New Delhi. A Mall that is most frequented by me because of its Brand Mix both in retail and Food. And also because of its Large Format Store and Cinema being HUGE.
Being 3 Kilometers away from my Home Surely helps 🙂
Last week, I got invited to be part of a Food Walk within the Mall and who could say no to this opportunity. And to lead the walk we had the Affable and Super talented Actor Kunal Vijayakar Bhai. Apart from his acting skills, he has a gig Foothold in Mumbai Food Circuit and because we have many Mutual friends, I keep seeing him in Pics on Social Media.
So, on the Appointed Time and Date I was there. Subah 9 baje.
Comfortable Gaari park ki and was in the Huge Plaza decked up for Christmas with the message #MakeJoysBigger.
Kunal Bhai aaye and we headed to the first Stop Punjab Grill, where we not only ate but also cooked Bhatti Ka Murg.
Punjab grill has been an Old Time Favourite and been many times, Multiple Locations.
Their Chefs have always Stood out and the current one, Chef Vijay Sethi adds lots of SMiles while cooking the Dishes.
He had done preparations for Bhatti da Murg. Bhatti da Murg is a specialty at Punjab Grill and is made with Marination of Kharre Masale which once applied on chicken adds the wonderful taste and texture as its left to marinate overnight before Roasting.
Chef Vijay was very Kind. Unhone humko Humara banaya Bhatti da murg to khilaya hi, he also treated us to his amazing Lamb Chops. Now his Lamb Chops Baba, Lambo Chops cooked by him and his team.
Jaldi Se khaya, Maza aaya and we headed to my Other Favourite Cafe Delhi Heights.
Again been to various Branches Multiple times and loved every experience there.
However I also try to take a Lamb Loved Friend along as unka jo Juicy Lucy Burger hai na, woh kamaal hai and mein akela nahi kha sakta saara so need someone along.
I know Chef Ashish Singh Bhai for more than 5 years now and he was there at the gate to welcome us.
He had also made special arrangements to Live cook one of the most Loved dishes of Cafe Delhi heights, Grill Chicken Breast Served with Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Veggies.
Kunal Bhai tried his hand on cooking and needless to say that this added more taste to the amazing dish.
Ab yahaan aaye hai to Juicy Lucy Burger bhi khaana banta hai na, So khaaaya, milkar hum sabne khaaya.
Next stop was recently opened Chilli’s. CHilli’s has been serving authentic American-Mexican food for past decade in Delhi. I have been to all outlets Vasant Kunj and Gurgaon, Saket and very recently CP one too.
And now having it in my Back Yard was a big reason for me to smile and visit the place. Tripple CHicken Dipper Basket is my favorite. Kabhi aur bataunga iss baare mein. What I loved was that they have some seating in open area too (Inside the Mall) and gives you a khulli Singapurish type feel when dining here. The Smiling Servers here in Red T-shirts add the magic to the place.

Chilli’s ke baad we headed to the Top Floor for Castles BarBeQue. Based on the Grill-Buffet Concepts that are in fashion for many years and this concept is here to stay and grow for many years to come.
The Place is Huge and serves 110 types of Food Items at any time. All this at a fixed cost.
Last year during the Great Indian Restaurant Festival in February, we saw all slots of this restaurant booked within a day. I was in Disbelief. Really. By the way, GIRF is a yearly Food Festival that offers 50% Discount on Thousands of Restaurants across India during February. Do watch out 🙂
Castles BarBeQue ke bilkul saath hai Biryani Blues and The Beer Cafe.
Biryani Blues opened the first outlet in Gurgaon in 2013 shayad and I remember going there and having their Biryani, Chicken 65 and Khurbaani ka meetha and kuch meethi yaadein lekar waapas aaya tha. Those Memories got rekindled at Biryani Blues while my fingers kept feeding me with delicious Biryani and soft flavored pieces of Chicken. My hands and Mouth were in perfect sync and aisa lag raha tha that I was in a trance. Dimaag ka to koi role hi nahi tha wahan.
By the way, I order Biryani blues in Biryani often to my office from this Pacific Mall outlet. So jab aapki kabhi iccha ho then you are welcome to my office too 🙂
Biryani Blues se bahar nikalte hi, The Beer Cafe hai. They changed the Beer Scene in India Big time and I always say ki meeting par 250 ki Coffee peene se accha hai ki banda 200 ki beer pi le. So, agli meeting Coffee Shop par nahi, The Beer Cafe mein. And inka Chakhna and baaki Food Spread bhi bahut mast hai.
Indian Kha Liya, Continental Kha liya, American Kha Liya, Biryani kha li, Beer bhi pi li, Buffet bhi Kha liya. Ab Italian ko bhala kyu naraaz karna jee.
So we headed towards Jamie Oliver. Jamie Olivers Italian is a beautifully done place and my favorite Table here is near the Kitchen, Corner table, jahaan side par ek barri si Graffiti bani hai that depicts Delhi Beautifully.
Been here twice Pehle with kids and today again with the Person known for his Acting, Love of Food and for sure for his SIL JAM AD
Ab have to say was impressed by his Knowledge of Food and sabse barriya baat yeh hai ki he Eats his Food bahut Pyaar se. Poora Enjoy karke 🙂
Jamie Oliver par we had their Special Pasta that is named after his Wife. Yahaan Zyada baat nahi karunga kyuki, Each bite of the Pizza, Pasta, Ravioli, Prawns, Dessert made me moan with pleasure and sab ka bas swaad yaad araha, na Naam, na Shakal. Will have to go back again to relish the delicacies at Jamies Oliver and then btata hu what you should order 🙂
Khaane ki baatein to bahut akr li. Also, let me add that Pacific Mall has Enough Loos and all Clean and Maintained.
Other attractions at Pacific Mall are Spar – The Large Format Store, Decathlon – The Sports Giant, Endless Retail Stores, Hangout for Kids Entertainment, Home Centre for your Ghar ka Samaan Jaise Furniture, Crockery and Gift items, PVR Cinemas for an Enriching Cinema Experience.
