Goan food has its distinctive Portuguese Flavours. Thore Strong Flavours, Thora Tanginess because of extensive use of Kokum and Tamarind.
Last saturday we were invited by Hotel Taj City Centre, Gurugram as their Chef Edridge Vaz of the Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Goa was here in town for a special week long Goad Food Festival called Goan Rhapsody.
The event started with a Goan Food workshop where the intricacies of Goan food was shared while cooking some lip smacking dishes.
Once done with cooking, it was time to eat and we all headed to their restaurant “Culina44” Goan meal that consisted of Prawns Peri peri, Chicken Jirem Jirem, Mushroom Coriander Masala in Starters.
Main course consisted of amazing Fish Curry, Very flavourful Pork Vindaloo, Mutton Xacuti that was well cooked and had coconut flavour in it. Arre haan Dal Varan and Bhindi Sol was amazing too and yes, Isme bhi coconut tha 🙂
The meal was accompanied by a Fenni Cocktail and believe me I can go back to Taj Gurugram this week just for a sip more of that lovely Fenni Cocktail.
Bebinca is the Traditional Dessert of Goa. Ab I have never known a person who doesn’t love a well made Bebinca! So yahaan bhi Bebinca hona zaroori tha and it was perfect.
One thing I forgot to share was about Poie. It is a house baked Goan Bread thora mix of Roti and Pao and Pita. But more fluffy than Pita. I had it in Goa last year and found the one made here much much better
Overall was a great afternoon with Friends, Food and smiles and for all this I need to Thank Mr. Manu Sharma-General Manager, Ms. Ananya Banerjee – PR & Marketing Manager, Mr. Anuj Soin- F& B Manager , Chef Edridge Vaz and Chef Subrata Debnath.
