Navratri European Platter @ London Cafe,NOIDA

Navratra Thali khate hue to bahut saal ho gaye. However, I got curious this Monday when I received a request from “London Café” located in Sector 63, NOIDA to try their European Navratra Platter.
This sounded to be a first and inspite of a distance of 30Km+ and 80 minutes of driving one way, I accepted to be art of Lunch the next day.

As usual, it was a tiring journey, but thankfully I had my Driving help Gagan with me so, I focused most of my time working or taking a short nap.

London café is located bang on the main road opp Fortis Hospital and just next to Ginger Hotel.

As I took the Tiled stairs to the café located on the First Floor, It looked as if I’m entering a Turkish or a Awadhi Restaurant.

Even inside the Cushions and Chandeliers gave the same feeling.

On enquiring why it is named London café, we go to know that the owner is back from London and she runs a restaurant back there in London too, hence the connection.  So, don’t go to London Café with that bent of mind of having English Furniture and ambience.

We got down to the point and ordered for the European navratra platter.
The patter was served in 5 minutes and looked very pleasing to the eyes.
Have to mention that the normal platter is normally double of what is in the picture. We had specifically requested for small portions so as to taste more variety and not waste any morsel.

Chef Harinder Sharma of London Cafe explained the dishes in detail and seems he has spent some real good time understanding the Ingredients and how he can use them to create an awesome experience for the diner.

What caught my eye first was the Green Pea Hummus. The combination itself made me curious and I took a spoon and tasted it. The hummus was really great and it was very different. I realised I could have it with anything, till the Chef suggested to have it with the Kuttu Chip. Good it was.

Then there was a Tikki covered with white white Samak rice. It made me remember the famous Bal Mithai of Almora. Jaise hi maine Chef ko yeh bola, he told me he is from Almora too. So now I knew where the inspiration for this would have come. The Tikki tastes awesome and uske uppar the Spinach Ragout added to the rich taste

There was a skewer also in the plate with Grilled Exotic vegetables which was served with Spicy cilantro Salsa. Somehow, not being a great veggies fan I skipped eating this.

Now, one dish that took my High was the Cottage Cheese Steak. It was a long piece of Paneer Sliced from inside and filled with some great stuffing of Pepper Caulis & Peanuts and then grilled.  The Dip that went very well with this combo was Bell pepper Sauce.

I can go pack to London Café again to just have this lovely Cottage Cheese Steak.

The tasty Navratra Platter was polished off by the Healthy Fruit Salad served with Sweet Curd.

Now, totally happy with the Navratra Platter, Chef asked if we would want to try something from the regular menu too and since we had ordered Mini Platters, we had enough space in our tummies to try thora aur.

In a few minutes we were greeted with an awesome sight of GNOCCHI DE PATATE. I copied this name, Mere se nahi bola jaata itna mushkil naam. It was Potato Dumpling pasta served with spinach cream cheese sauce.

I loved the plating. It was presented in a wide black plate and due to this our attention was just on the food itself which was very tasty and the dumplings were melting in mouth kinds.

The other dish we tried was RAVIOLI AL PESTO CON POLO which was Ravioli Pasta Stuffed with Chicken Herbs and Cheese & served with classic creamy pesto sauce.

This too was good.

While talking to Chef I got to know that he has earlier served in Hotel Imperial during 1998-2002. The Exact time when I had just finished my school and preferred to go for a date at Imperial and have just a Coffee for Rs 150 than going to the hustle bustle of Nirula’s and having a Pizza for the same prize.  That interaction brought back many memories 🙂

If you are in East Delhi or NOIDA, then this place is a Good one to spend your afternoons and Evenings. They also do Indian food.

The Food is Great, Ambience Good and prices at par with other restaurants around.

Address: London Cafe

This was not a paid Lunch, hence no mention of the Service. Also, the review is totally unbiased as my interest lies with the interest of my Reader 🙂
